Here we are, another year of seeing the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Don’t get me wrong! As a sports fan in general, I love seeing teams dominate and show why they are the best team year in and year out. Like the old saying goes "if it ain't broke, don’t fix it." Low and behold the Patriots have done that time and time again. On the other side of that argument, I have seen Tom Brady and Bill Belichek one too many times, and I wish somebody would just knock them out of the playoffs. I was honestly hoping the Jags would put a beat down on the defending champs so it would give me more of a reason to put my bet on a different team. Ok, listen, what I am saying is, I need more from the NFL. There were a lot of new teams in the playoffs this year, and I wish for the same type of change next year. I just need somebody to beat the Patriots. No, this is not a cry for help, this is a PSA for every other team to step up and dominate. On the opposite sideline, this weekend stands the Eagles, and they took the league by storm this season. I didn’t have them even going this far without Carson Wentz because of the value he brings them. Luckily, they have Nick Foles who isn't just a regular back up, and this makes it even tougher to pick a team overall. As a sports fan, I want to see Brady win that 6th ring and crowned "THE BEST QB EVER." On the other hand, I want the Eagles to win, and it's just that simple.
What I like about both teams...
On the Patriots side if you don’t hate them or "strongly" dislike them then you want to see them succeed because they haven't had much change over time and that’s an organization that you can model after. Again as a sports fan, I am excited to see Tom Brady against this Eagles defense. It excites me when they get behind, and Brady puts the team on his back and comes through in the clutch. The only time they talk about age (40) is when he comes in clutch. With that said, I don’t think there will be any talks of retirement win or lose. I think he is here to stay. Scenario 1, if the Patriots win, Brady will try to get more rings added to his legacy. Scenario 2, if they lose, I think that will add fuel to his fire, and he will want to compete even more. Now getting away from the individuals and back to the team, they have a lot of experience, and they are playing some good football as of right now. As you all know they are about business and they will come in, do their thing, celebrate, and move on to the next season. As Antonio Brown would say, "Business is Booming."
For the Eagles, I really like them in all 3 phases of the game, offense, defense and special teams. On offense, they may have lost their leader, but they didn’t have any fall off with Nick Foles. I think his experience with Chip Kelly has given him a significant advantage on how to run RPO(Run, Pass, Option) plays to perfection. That's a different conversation for a different day. On defense, I think the Eagles will be able to play man coverage or a matchup zone. I believe that style of defense will work based on all of the crossing routes the Patriots run. I know this is going to be a mind game between the Eagles defense and Tom Brady! All of these aspects give the Eagles an underdog feeling. However, that gives them a lot of confidence because not a lot people believe in them. I think the underdog role they are playing is excellent and I do think they're an underdog. Let's see if they can bring home some hardware.
My Prediction...With all of that out of the way, I can finally figure out who I think is going to win. This isn't the most straightforward decision to make. You have the "Goat" in Tom Brady vs. the Underdogs. I have been on the fence about who I am picking for two weeks now. Since I have to choose, I have the "Patriots" winning.
They will win 35-21!
